The Audi Quattro, introduced in 1981, revolutionized rally racing as it was the first rally car to effectively and reliably use allwheel drive. But: Based on a serial car, at some point the Quattro couldn’t keep up with his competitors anymore. Therefore, Audi decided to construct the S1, which was driven by rally legend Walter Röhrl. “The short one” featured all technical possibilities to increase performance.
